The Acolyte
admonition ! This clause contains SPOILERS for The Acolyte .
Summary
The Sith Lord ofThe Acolyteis clearly opposed to the Jedi , but I ’m convinced I found the perfect theory that explain just how connect to the Jedi he really is . The Jedi ofthe High Republic era , the time whenThe Acolytetakes place , think the Sith were extinct . That fact worked in the Sith ’s advantage , as it allow them to grow in speciality through the eld without induce the Jedi seek to ruin them . It was such a major advantage , and part of a hundred - farsighted programme , that any phallus of the Sith would need a very compelling rationality to threaten it .
Qimir , also known as the Stranger , did n’t have a very compelling intellect to assail the Jedi on Khofar inThe Acolyteepisode 5 . If he want to kill Mae and prevent her from disclose himself and hisnew blood-red lightsaberto the Jedi , he could have done so without engage them all at the same meter . His decision to expose himself will in all probability be explain in future episodes ofThe Acolyte , but I believe one theory figured it out early . Everything about it makes sensation to me , and I ’m now sure-footed that the Stranger is much more connected to the Jedi than he permit on .
Here ’s everything you take to follow along with Star Wars : The Acolyte , from references and trivia to main takeaways from each unexampled sequence .
The Acolyte’s Sith Lord Has A Name… One With Deep Meaning
After he had been unmasked and unwrap as Qimir , the Stranger told Sol that he had no name . It now seems Qimir was a totally made - up alias , but it was still important to the stranger . AsXDarthThunderXpointed out , the name " Qimir " was belike root on by the Arabic name " Qamar . "
The post also note that the name " Qamar " means moon , which creates an interesting connection to Master Sol . Since " Sol " have in mind " sunshine " in many of the real world ’s language , like Spanish and Latin , it seems Sol and Qimir are more closely connected than they at first seemed , potentially even by blood . There were several hints that the two knew each other long before they met on Olega . Qimir made multiple reference to Sol ’s blue past times , and he had more information about Sol ’s relationship with Osha , and what he failed to tell her about Brendok , than he could have gained from Mae alone .
The Acolyte has finally revealed the identity of the mysterious Sith Lord , but one assembly line from him designate a major change to Sith story .

Even though Qimir was a fake name , the fact that the Stranger chose an alias that was so closely tie to Sol ’s name talk mass . Out of all the names in the galaxy , the Stranger break up one that hinted he was a dark reflection of Sol , the moon to his sun . The name Qimir is an indication that the Stranger was specifically aim Sol . It ’s possible he pick out the name just as a play on his opposition to the Jedi , but I think it ’s indication of a deeper connection , one that speaks toThe Acolyte ’s focus on dualism even more .
The Acolyte Is All About Dualism
A major repeat musical theme ofThe Acolyteso far has been the idea of dualism and the concept of Yin and Yang . The most overt example of this radical is the relationship between Mae and Osha Aniseya . The twin are fundamentally two halves of one whole , a opinion Mae put into words with her puerility rhyme , " You ’re with me , I ’m with you . Always one , but born as two . “One one-half , Mae , is aligned with the coloured side , while the other one-half , Osha , is align with the light side . Mae and Osha , then , perfectly substantiate Yin and Yang : luminousness and sorry combine to make one whole .
The former Padawan of Jedi Master Sol , Mae gets swept up into a sinister enigma — one that puts her into the center of a difference of opinion in unexpected ways .
Osha and Mae are the most outstanding example of this theme , butThe Acolyteis dripping in dualism . The moons of Brendok are another example , as one dark Sun Myung Moon and one illuminated moon combine during the Ascension ceremony . EvenThe Acolyteepisode 5 embraced this theme , as Mae go with Sol and the Stranger take Osha , which made both a coupling of illumination and black . If Sol and Qimir work out to be more connected than they seem , it would meet dead intoThe Acolyte ’s larger motif of showing two halves of the same whole .
The former Padawan of Jedi Master Sol, Mae gets swept up into a sinister mystery—one that puts her into the center of a conflict in unexpected ways.
Since Sol was the efficacious leader of the Jedi air to Khofar and the Stranger was the only Sith there , the two had already been set up as mirror images of each other . The Acolyteleaned into this comparison even more : throughout the episode , the Stranger used Sol ’s words and actions against him . One of the best examples of that was when Sol criticize the Stranger for not demonstrate his face to his student , and Qimir asserted that Sol did the same by not secern Osha the truth about Brendok . I imagine that Sol and the Stranger are connect by more than just their roles , though .
Are Sol & Qimir Actually Brothers?
There are several theories about how The Stranger and Sol could have met each other before Khofar . It ’s potential they were both present on Brendok the nighttime the coven burned down , or Qimir might have been Sol ’s Padawan at some metre . The situation ’s theory stands above the rest , though , especially debate the similarities in their names . I’m in full convinced Sol and Qimir are long - lose brothers who were separated at parentage . Their names are the central part of this possibility , and the fact that the Stranger create a fake name and considered himself " nameless " also speaks to the importance of his true name .
The Stranger must have had some reason to blot out or abandon the name he was give at birth . I believe the cause for his change of name is that Sol would recognize the Stranger ’s name more than he would his face . If that was the case , the only account I find compelling for why Sol would know the Stranger ’s parturition name would be if they were brother .
If Sol did have a brother , I simply refuse to conceive he would n’t seem in The Acolyte at all .
There are also several hints that support the idea of Sol and Qimir being brothers . Sol tell Osha inThe Acolyteepisode 3 that he was taken from his family when he was four years old , and he mentioned that he had some memories of his family and how he was different from them . Sol ’s choice of words was a hint that he was n’t an only child , as he did n’t just say parent , and if he could think back he had a brother , he ’d likely remember his name . If Sol did have a brother , I just refuse to believe he would n’t appear inThe Acolyteat all .
I also consider that being brothers is the only theory that effectively explains how Sol and Qimir knew each other before Olega . If they knew each other from Brendok , Sol would in all likelihood have had much more than a simple intuitive feeling . Sol would have been able-bodied to recognize the same drear side user he encounter on one of the worst nighttime of his life , a dark he still remembers vividly . If the Stranger was Sol ’s Padawan , he would have recognized Qimir ’s cheek the second he saw him on Olega , even if he had grown well since he last see Sol .
Master Sol is a judicious , highly respected , hefty Jedi Master , strong in the way of the Force , who is going through emotional battle .
The former Padawan of Jedi Master Sol, Mae gets swept up into a sinister mystery—one that puts her into the center of a conflict in unexpected ways.
If they were separated at birth or in early childhood , though , Sol might only be capable to mistily commemorate Qimir , given his young years and the amount of time that had passed . They would also be unite through the Force - moreso than the average pair of people are . That would excuse Sol ’s conversant tone and the Stranger ’s blood line , " You do n’t commemorate me ? " It would also explicate why Sol did n’t recognize Qimir on Olega : if the only memory he had of his brother ’s face was as a baby , he ’d never greet him as an grownup .
When I first heard this hypothesis , it felt like the last teaser small-arm ofThe Acolytewas finally falling into place . Everything about it get sense to me . It explain why the Stranger would peril himself - so he could get to Sol - it explains how they knew each other better than any other theory , and it correspond absolutely intoThe Acolyte ’s narrative and themes . It ’s a brainy theory , and I ’m fully convert it predicted the last wrench ofThe Acolyteweeks before its reveal .
fresh installment ofThe Acolytepremiere on Tuesday nights on Disney+ .
