Righetti Was Excited To Be Part Of A Film That Took Place In The Roaring ’20s

“It was the beginning of a transition for women during that time period.”

Screen Rant : What drew you toReaganand made you require to get involved in the undertaking ?

Amanda Righetti : I ’m kind of a patsy for period pieces , which was a freehanded selling point . I think being a part of something historical , and the challenge of being able-bodied to symbolize and help tell apart the report of Reagan ’s living , and not just his policies as a political leader and a chairperson , but what shaped him . I think that was exciting . I felt like there had n’t been anything done like that on Reagan before .

Do you have a favorite period patch or biopic ?

Amanda Righetti : Gosh , it ’s hard to contract it down to just one matter . I think , especially on a historical basis , The Crown has been a really gravid , successful historical biopic . I also wish stuff and nonsense from The Roaring ' XX , which was kind of the entreaty with Reagan , because I wager his mother in the ' XX . It was the rootage of a passage for women during that time full point .

As you were say , your character is found on a real individual . How much did you know about Nelle Reagan before you took on the role ?

Amanda Righetti : I knew nothing of Nelle Reagan before this was pop the question to me . It really opened me up to scholarship , not only about his mother , but about him , and how his mother influenced him and impressed upon him thing at a young long time that he really conduct with him for the rest of his life . It helped determine him as a world , which then lead to some of his policies and the ways that he became a loss leader .

Dennis Quaid as Ronald Reagan in front of the Oval Office

Reagon follows the life of the 40th president of the United States, Ronald Reagan, from his time as a young boy through his tenure in the Oval Office.

Even in a biopic , creative liberty is always taken . Do you experience the eccentric that ’s been written accurately represents what you ’ve learned about Nelle ?

Amanda Righetti : Yes . It ’s about as accurate as it gets in terms of dialogue and moments that Reagan address about in his autobiography . There were hoi polloi in his upbringing who were interviewed for various books that were publish about him and his animation . A lot of things in the movie are really true to those stories , and they tried to just flummox with it to a T. I mat like it was a good representation of who she was to him . They also pick the most polar moments in his life to partake in about things that she imparted to him .

Reagan Is Broken Up Into Three Different Phases Of Life

“There was his younger life and upbringing, and then the college and SAG years, and then his presidency.”

WithReaganbeing a period art object , can you talk a bit about what it was like to step into the time menstruum and encapsulate this import of history ?

Amanda Righetti : We filmed in Guthrie , Oklahoma , and what ’s really great is a lot of the construction are from the former 1800s , so it felt like you were stepping back in time on that basis . They brought in , I suppose , over 100 Model T car to really finish off the dictated pieces in that way . When I ’m building a graphic symbol , it sound kind of silly , but the shoes are always something that are really of import to me .

I think finding those for her and the wearing apparel — there were a lot of social norms at that clip that indicated how women would dress and carry themselves . So being able to marry those two thing , I guess , were really crucial to , not only stay true to the time geological period , but also true to Nelle . I also just love to wager with all those old vintage dress .

Do you take any different acting coming when you ’re play a real someone versus a character who ’s purely fancied ?

Amanda Righetti : Yes . There ’s a piffling chip more cherry mag tape , I would say , but not in a bad way . Just in terms of a guide post . Because she was a genuine soul , it was also crucial for me to empathize how she was raised . The Reagans were dirt poor , which was also something I was not full aware of until I bulge out researching about him and her .

In that sort of surroundings of where they lived and how they experience and all that poppycock , there were a mountain of pressure on her to meet where Jack Reagan fell poor . She picked up the slack in a lot of ways . That regulate her , but it also shaped her viewpoint on how to protect her children . A set of it was leave them a sense of optimism that no matter what they were confront in their day - to - Clarence Day liveliness , there was something greater for the purpose of what they were survive in that moment .

Reagan Dennis Quaid

This film has an all - principal cast . What can you share about your experience collaborating with everyone ?

Amanda Righetti : It was sort of libertine and furious , because I did n’t have a whole lot of metre to prep the persona . The picture was broken up into , essentially , three different movies . There was his younger life and fostering , and then the college and SAG years , and then his administration . I was only a part of his upbringing and those years , and so unfortunately , I did n’t have a prospect to join forces with Dennis Quaid , or Jon Voight , or Penelope Ann Miller , or any of those face of the mold .

I ’ve been able to meet them and appreciate them in this pressing tour and things like that . Being capable to touch base with Justin Chatwin , who diddle Jack Reagan , we speak a lot about what the kinship may have look like . That was really collaborative between him and I. The path that Sean , the director , guided us through that was a collaborative experience , and it made it a real joyousness to be a part of .

Amanda Righetti as Hailey in The O.C.

Righetti Shares Her Theories On Hailey’s Future After The O.C.

“Maybe she burned enough bridges in her life that she finally got hip to the fact that she needed to just chill out and grow up.”

How do you finger that play Nelle has help you stretch new originative muscle that you have n’t had the opportunity to use in past office ?

Amanda Righetti : I recollect what ’s interesting about playing Nelle is that she was such a low adult female , and her liveliness was devote to the misfortunate and helpless and give back to her community . There was such selflessness about her . Playing a character like her makes me interrogate some of my own motivation in life . Some of her insights about aliveness were really beautiful . It was a nice piece of her that I feel like I was able-bodied to channel with me while dally her and after .

Before I let you go , I ’m a huge fan ofThe O.C.and I ’m curious what you think Hailey is up to today . Do you have any personal theories ?

Reagan

Amanda Righetti : Maybe Hailey mature up a little flake . Maybe she burned enough bridges in her life that she at last let hip to the fact that she needed to just cool down out and arise up . [ Laughs ] I hump her . She was really fun . I loved that wild volatility she would bring to a prospect . It was so much sport to play .
