Boreanaz Knew That SEAL Team Season 7 Would Be His Last
Screen Rant : Seven seasons is something to celebrate , especially in today ’s world . How do you feel about the series ending ? Is now the right-hand time ?
David Boreanaz : I ’ve been playing this persona for eight year and seven season , which has been the streak of the show . I knew proceed into the season that it would be my last . I waited for this second to kind of talk about that . For me , in person , I just saw it as a capital time for the character to add up full circle for what these particular operator go through .
It made good sense because of the role and his kinship to the squad and brotherhood , so I was activated to issue forth to that finis . It was something that I had decide before the writer strike had strike , and then the writers ten-strike strike , and things were half-baked for a few month , as you acknowledge . And then we just resolve that was it . I ’m excited and humiliate that I was able to play a character of this magnitude , but my body thanks me for necessitate a interruption and have this one go .

Lucius Clay ’s dying in season 6 was heartbreaking . How are the characters going to continue to feel that loss through the remainder of the final time of year ?
David Boreanaz : We ’ve always said that these manpower and women , specifically , operators can or ca n’t make it . We do n’t glaze it . We do n’t play into it as a big soap opera moment in an sequence in a series like this . One of the reasons why we were so geared to being more of a streaming outlet than a web show is we just did n’t check those box .
The authenticity is always there for a character to be removed — a nicer room of allege being inject or killed , or not name it . I cerebrate it ’s something that is on the crustal plate for Jason Hayes for the end of the serial . We always want to remind the consultation that you just do n’t know when you ’re gon na get hit . I think in today ’s earthly concern of storytelling , especially with operators , that can occur at any given time .

SEAL Team Season 7 Will Examine How Operators Cope After Their First Kill
Jason spoke up about his TBI , and the squad had his back and partake in their own trauma . What impact will that have going forward ?
David Boreanaz : We ’ve examined the TBI , we ’ve essay the PTS , his relationship back home , how he balances that . The large one that we have n’t examined is how an operator deals with his first killing and beyond that . What form of trauma that is and , for a mess of these operator , it ’s always been the top - tier of the fiend , the hardest one to handle with . And so that will reflect heavily on Jason ’s character go forward .
It ’ll matter very intemperately on his judgment , which is not balanced with his heart at the beginning . He thinks it is , and he kind of assume some sideline for the first few episodes , but he sees that he is causing more way out at home than he would be and finds that balance may not ever happen . And so he does get back mid - time of year with the brotherhood and the teams , but his fortune may not be as happy as some fans would need .
complicate on Jason ’s household life , what challenge might he continue to confront this season when trying to poise his role as a father and a Navy SEAL ?
David Boreanaz : They always have that balance and those battle and those adversities , balance with menage spirit , counterpoise with their human relationship , balance with come back and not getting the love that they deserve from their country . That weighs very heavily on Jason this season and towards the end of the serial . I ’m excited to take this to his grave , without giving away too many spoilers . [ Laughs ]
Boreanaz Is Proud That SEAL Team Sheds Light On Military Men And Women
You ’ve played so many iconic characters over the years from Angel to Booth , but what have you learned from play Jason , and what are you going to take with you into future projects ?
David Boreanaz : Never depart a brother behind , I say , would be the motif for this season and heading out the series . For me , it ’s always been a mark of the humbleness of playing a fictitious character of this intensity for so many eld that has allow for me to really try out that brotherhood . As a metaphor to sympathize , you have to really beleaguer yourself with the weak inter-group communication in any team , whether that ’s the sports populace , the business earthly concern , the entertainment world , you name it . gloomy - neckband people , any form of work , you have to include that weakest inter-group communication to succeed .
I will take the sense of consistency , and I will take the trade wind of correction , and lease that enhance my abilities even more , which I incur to be very profound for me for eight age of my life playing this character reference . It ’s exciting because it opens up trade name new door and avenues for me to use those attributes even more so . It ’s given me a lot , and I ’m so humbled to have receive all that from these guy rope who are the literal guys . It make me very lofty that we , as producers , can put out a serial publication that I feel is very , very underrated and still yet to be discovered by many masses .

The biggest reward that I could have , personally , from a show like this , is having these gentleman and or women in the military world say , " give thanks you for saving my life sentence . I was live on to put a gun in my fountainhead and kill myself . I blend in and pass out for supporter . Thank you for saving me . " And so we were able to put light in the sour corner and shed that and heal a lot of people . So to me , that ’s very important .
I saw that you wrapped take a couple of months back . You ’ve been through series finales before , but how was saying sayonara to another squad you ’ve worked so nearly with for so long ?
David Boreanaz : I never say adieu . I think the hardest part will be not being capable to see the crew day in and 24-hour interval out and specific calendar month of the yr . You become very much a family with the crew , and you see their lives unfold , our lives . It ’s just one full-grown family . We had such a strong , unattackable crew . And that , again , is the testimony of the theme of " Never depart a brother behind . Always keep them integral . " It was a very wild ride of shooting a show that is just very fast and savage and efficient and very veridical for the storytelling that we do and to take position .

For me , it was a celebration . It was a Brobdingnagian relief of getting something off my back . All those time of playing a character of this intensity , whether it ’s the depression , the manipulation , the hurting and the suffering that the character had to weather , it was fantastic to let that go . I celebrated very to a great extent on the beach with my mould and my crew , and I get everybody bottles of bubbly like we literally just won the The World Series or Stanley Cup . We just sprayed Champagne-Ardenne all over each other in an effort to love that moment . It was great .
Looking back , do you have a favorite shot from the show ? Either because it was fun to take or impactful for the story ?
David Boreanaz : level are so very impactful in this series . Every episode had its own hardship for the character reference . The storytelling was always in - depth . The penning was very unfeigned and honest to the professing of being a special manipulator . The focus was always about doing it the proper direction , postulate that itinerary and not take any crosscut . I congratulate ourselves that we did n’t take shortcuts . I know that if you talk to the respite of the cast , they would find the same as far as how difficult it was to fritter Clarence Day in and Clarence Day out on a show like this . So , humbling for myself .
I take off so many moments , so many times that we laugh , we squall together , that we apportion floor together to get penetration into these operators ' minds and their heart and soul and how they struggle . Being able-bodied to give back to them was a fantastic journey that will always be a big impact in my heart and something that specify me personally . I was speak earlier about how to use those attributes of overpower adversities in a task . Very unassailable bit for me .
