While all of the master fictitious character were a family , that does n’t intend that they were all friends . This was peculiarly straight for the paterfamilias of the family and their pantryman . Not only were they not really Friend , they barely seemed to like each other at times . Uncle Phil stillliked Geoffrey better than Jazz , but that ’s not saying much .

Out of all the character on the show , Geoffrey has the most interesting backstory of all . His full name was Geoffrey Barbara Butler . Yes , the butler ’s last name was Butler . There was a time that he was a respected Olympic ball carrier in England , but was caught cheating . Queen Elizabeth II even slap him for his evildoing .
He left his home nation in ignominy , ending up in California as a pantryman for the Banks house . That big of a life change sure as shooting caused government issue with someone like Phil who Geoffrey spent so much prison term with .
Sees Phil As A Step Down
Geoffrey ’s calling as a butler was filled with unbelievable moments . He was formerly employed by British lords . At one point in the 1970s , he was reputedly the butler for Led Zeppelin . And for a fourth dimension he was the Samuel Butler andsparring partner for Chuck Norris .

All of themain characters on the showwere family . The huge majority were part of the Banks family in Bel - Air , then full cousin Will from Philly moved in . That was the entire assumption of the series . The only main character who was n’t biologically part of the family unit was Geoffrey , making him the odd valet de chambre out .
He live in a house full of people he technically worked for , the only " appendage of the family " who was paid to be part of it . Many of the Banks plow him like family , but Phil seemed to have a much bigger problem with managing that transmission line .
